Twenty-five year old photographer, Janelka Lubbinge, grew up in the Port Alfred, a seaside town in the Eastern Cape, with a lot of nature and it shows in her work.
‘My love for landscapes is a dynamic love that serves more than one purpose. Creatively landscapes make the best environments for photography and the most beautiful backdrops. No place is the same place twice in a row and there is always something new to capture. However, my true love for landscapes comes from my need to go on these little adventures. That’s how it all started for me. Just driving around with my camera to beautiful spots and trying to capture it… soon I started getting my friends involved and they became a fun subject or an interesting twist to these beautiful landscapes. I love how a human can either blend into and environment or completely change the meaning of a place. Its about finding harmony or even pushing two extremes together just to provoke a reaction. But mostly it is about the adventures and memories that comes with these photographs. Photography enables me to live the life I choose.’ Janelka Lubbinge
Janelka beautifully portrays the female figure contrasted with the harshest of landscapes in her work. The two different forms of nature are merged so effortlessly and gracefully.
