Amy Ayanda Launch EP via Crowdfunder

We’ve ben enjoying Amy Ayanda since we were first introduced to her over two years ago via a collaboration with Thor Rixon. And by ‘her’, we mean ‘it’ – Amy Ayanda is more than the artist and young mother front woman Amy Lester; rather consisting of a trio manned also by Dean Berger and Daniel Breiter. The three musicians started making music together in 2015 and have since written and recorded an EP, which was all set for a 2016 release until ‘life got in the way.’ So, they’re reaching out to you to gather the funds to mix and... New Track. Amy Ayanda – Jessica

Looks who’s back! Amy Ayanda spent some time at Red Bull Studios Cape Town to roll out a simple, hauntingly beautiful track entitled ‘Jessica’, produced by Daniel Breiter, Dean Berger and Glenn Stein of Cape Town’s electronic trio Birthday Girl. She’s accompanied by Simon Lee on guitar, who will appear on her upcoming album which we can expect in March 2017. According to Red Bull Studios, the track narrates a Marvel super hero Jessica Jones-inspired story. ‘Jessica is about a strong womxn, exceptionally strong, but [who] still faces abuse form her partner, who she can’t stop loving no matter how... New Music Video. Amy Ayanda & Thor Rixon – La Llorna.

Last week we had the first taste of Cape Town’s Amy Ayanda, in a collaborative track with Thor Rixon – a musician who’s slowly slipping into all the nooks and crannies of this city’s ever-burgeoning creative scene. ‘La Llorna’ was released through Red Bull Studios and encapsulates a simple, yet nuanced track – a style somewhere in between folk-style storytelling and a ballad. Rixon’s video for the track has just been unveiled attempting ‘to provide a honest yet dreamy visual accompaniment to Ayanda’s powerfully convincing portrayal of the La Llorna, the scorned woman’: Read more
