New Trailer | ‘Don’t Touch My Hair’

Taking its name from Solange’s A Seat At The Table track, Director Kia-vanna Harrison and Producer Callum Ellis’s upcoming documentary Don’t Touch My Hair is an attempt to explore a topic that’s only just starting to get the airtime it needs – hair politics. Investigating the historical narrative of black hairstyles and society’s view of them, the British-made doccie will follow young women who have just started straightening their natural hair to understand the long-term effects and daily routines tied to these styles. It looks to normalize the Afro in society, explore the billion pound black hair industry, and understand why black women still oppress their hair.

The film is still on its way, so if you believe this is a story that needs telling, getting involved financially.
