Following the success of the southernmost House of Vans event in Cape Town this March, Johannesburg was selected to host a bumper weekend of music, art, street culture and skateboarding. The event was part of Vans’ anniversary celebrating 50 Years ‘Off The Wall’ and its safe to say we won’t be forgetting the weekend anytime soon.
With a diverse array of acts including Stilo Magolide, Kid X, Youngsta, Speedsta, Maphorisa, Bye Beneco, Al Bairre, Sol Gems and The Make-Overs, every night was a turn up. This was accompanied by commissioned art installations by South African artists; Black Koki, Danielle Clough and Tyrone Ping. The Pro Classic skate event introduced a newly built skate obstacle, which pays homage to a classic Johannesburg skate spot that is a tip-of-the-hat adaptation to the infamous Angle Banks on Loveday Street, one of Johannesburg’s most unique and iconic natural street spots.
