Nike, in celebration of the Air Max’s 30th birthday, held a very special event last week. They took the opportunity to celebrate not only the shoe but also the culture in which the shoe exists. Both Cape Town and Joburg were simultaneously exalted at the ‘Cape/Burg’ event, which also took the time to give praise to some of South Africa’s fine talent, ranging from football star, Siphiwe Tshabalala, to rapper, Rattex (seen above).
The night also celebrated the book, Cape/Burg (seen below), a production which documents the life of the Air Max and some of the public figures that were involved with the Cape/Burg project.
