‘ANYTHING GOES: The Fame’ is an event inspired by pop culture and the obsessive nature of the paparazzi.
ANYTHING GOES was started by Nash Mariah and Mavuso Mbutuma. It happens once a month on First Thursdays in Cape Town, at The Pink Panther Social Club for information visit here.
“With ANYTHING GOES we wanted to create a gay-friendly space where anyone could go and feel free to be themselves, whatever that might be” – Mavuso Mbutuma, co-founder of ANYTHING GOES.
“Everyone from Britney to Princess Diana has felt the downside of fame, and for the shoot we wanted to re-create iconic moments of celebrities being seen out partying, and the over-dramatized tales of excess in the media, which would have followed” – Nash Mariah, co-founder of ANYTHING GOES.
Featuring in the shoot and accompanying video are a number of Cape Town’s recognisable faces, including Jana Babez (performance artist), Patrick Visser (founder of YOH!), Ané Strydom (photographer/stylist), Peter Georgiades (stylist), Lukhanyo Mdingi and Nicholas Coutts (designers).
All the images in the photoshoot were shot by Martin Magner.
